THE PELVIS

Fashion Rio (Rio de Janeiro's fashion week) started today opening the A/W 2012 season for Fashion shows and the theme is "Nova Bossa Nova" - (which means "The new Bossa Nova") typically brazilian.

Here is just an appetite of a cool video of Elvis Presley dancing to his 'Bossa Nova Baby'!

MY UNCLE IS COOL!!

Just watched "Mon Onlce", it's a lovely and funny film from brilliant director Jacques Tati. This film was released in 1958 and the aesthetic of this film as his other film "Playtime" is incredible, so cool!
Monsieur Hulot (Jacques Tati) visits the technology-driven world of his sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, but he can't quite fit into the surroundings.
To see how this tech house works in the early 60's is delightful to watch.

The director makes everyday life look amusing and interesting (inside it's own ironic boredom)
What amazes me the most is how meticulous the photography of the film is, the combinations of colors carefully placed together, every scene looks like a color chart from a collection. And I think people should considerate this movies for that, it is quite inspiring.

Check here a clip and some cool photos of the decor and fashion of this movie.

Candy for the eyes!!

WEARABLE HOME

Mary Mattingly is a American visual artist that made a impact with her "Wearable Home" project - for the shape and colors of the cloth she though about an unified cultural appeal, considering from a kimono to a burka to the Gap than the color Khaki was chosen.

"The Khaki Overcoat, muslin design prototypes, construction uniforms, kimonosDockers, safari camouflage, military uniforms, the blandification and brandification of garments spanning cultures worldwide to make one, general look de-emphasizing self and re-emphasizing everything else (collaboration, ideas, survival, modularity, etc.)."

This wearable house is not only for moving around and living in this "tent" like house but gets you connect on internet as well, electric cloth technology, etc..

In a period where we need ecological solutions to our daily routines and when the devastation of the planet seems already too catastrophic Mary gives us the solution for a world where problems cannot be turned back.

FOR THOSE WHO SPEAK FRENCH

I Found on the FFW website a very nice interview from Jean Paul Gaultier. He talks about his carrier and his point of view about life and work, he always seems to be a very sunny person and I just loved to see hi talk about everything.

The interview is in French with portuguese subtitles.

This is Part 1, you can see part 2 and 3 here.

BEING RUPH WITH RAJNIKANIA

Here it comes, wonderful news and fashion tip. In Jakarta the brand Rugh teamed up with stylist Rajnikania Sarwono for their new collection. This collection has edginess and yet is wearable, the accessories give that extra edgy and odernity to the looks but still we can see a hint of 60's.
The colors are very nice, modern, bright but used very elegantly.
