29° BIENNIAL IN TEXTURES

"There is always a cup of sea to sail in"

This is the catch phrase that represent this year's Art Biennial, of contemporary art, (Brazil), founded in 1951 and has been held every two years since. It is the second oldest art biennial in the world after the Venice Biennial (in existence since 1895). Designed by Oscar Niemeyer.

This year the theme is "art and politics",which discusses the political nature of artand it's really ironic because of this month's election for president in Brazil. Also one of the main pieces, which had two vultures, was shut down because of animal control (gossips tell us that was a political act against the author!!).  Release here

There are really cool things as well as some weird stuff that no one understands, I think that's one of the main problems with contemporary art, sometimes is so private fr the author that nobody can understand it.

Let me show you the exhibition and it's textures (there are a lot of artists that you can find on the release, so I will post only the photos and a few names).

"350 points towards infinity" - Tatiana Trouvé

"Rice & Beans" - Anna Maria Maiolino

"This same world over" - Cinthia Marcelle

And the work most widely spoken was Gil Vicente's "Self Portraits"
